About Priya
Priya is a multi-hyphenate artist. She's an actor, writer and classic over-thinker (her brain has more tabs open than her browser). Her most fervent hope as artist, is to be a purveyor of hope and joy in these tumultuous and uncertain times. When she isn't acting, writing or over-thinking, she is coming up with crossover, Disney princess stories for her daughters and their insatiable appetite for said stories.
Priya grew up in India and came to the US in 2008 to pursue her MBA at Duke University (Go Blue Devils!), after which she started working in the corporate world in America. A series of fortunate events led to her taking an acting workshop which is where she was bitten by the proverbial acting bug. Some of her notable credits include the Jeff nominated world premier of 'Queen' at Victory Gardens for which she received a BroadwayWorld Nomination for Best Actress, award winning short film 'Prayer for Childless' and 'Next' on FOX.
After seeing a dearth of immigrant representation in media, Priya started writing to give a voice to other immigrants like her. She wrote, produced and acted in the pilot of her series 'FOBia' that won numerous accolades. Since then Priya's scripts have placed at Austin Film Festival, Atlanta Film Festival, Screencraft, OpenScreenplay and WeScreenplay. Her comedy pilot 'Cricket Cub of Canon High' also placed 3rd in the Cinequest Screenwriting Contest.
